MONITOR LIZARDS - CAGEING.

Hand feeding Elvira "CAREFULLY" |
|
THIS IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF HOW TAME THIS BLACK THROAT CAN BECOME. |
Although I dont recommend hand feeding a monitor this way I wanted to give a good example of how trusting and tameable
a monitor can be.With time spent with a monitor and alot of patience this can be accomplished.Monitors can give a painful
bite lacerating and crushing your hand.Do not attempt hand feeding your monitor until you have bonded and tamed it to this
point and even then be very cautious.

Stall enclosure for Black Throats |
|
LARGE ENCLOSURES ARE REQUIRED BY MOST MONITORS |
This is a very basic and modest enclosure but very efficient for houseing a variety of terrestrial monitors like the
black throat.Dimensions are 6 foot deep by 4 foot wide by 4 foot high.Made out of half inch plywood and 1 by 2 inch wood furring
stripes. This enclosure not only houses them comfortably but makes it easy for cleaning and air circulation.Lighting and all
cage furniture is easy to adjust and clean also being removable , affording the monitor to move about freely at will.

I CANT STRESS ENOUGH HOW IMPORTANT LARGE CAGEING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WHEN HOUSEING A LARGE MONITOR.SMALL AQUARIUMS
AND OTHER AVERAGE CAGES WONT DUE..!!..IF YOUR CONCIDERING A MONITOR FOR A PET CONCIDER HOW YOU WOULD FEEL IF YOU WERE MADE
TO LIVE IN YOUR CLOSET.THATS HOW THE MONITOR WOULD FEEL??...CLAUSTROPHOBIC !!....ESPECIALLY WITH BREEDING ITS NESSESARY FOR
CORTING AND SUCCESSFUL COPULATION...NOTE THAT ALL MONITORS DO NOT NEED THIS LARGE OF AN ENCLOSURE SO MAKE SURE YOU DO YOUR
HOMEWORK ON THE SPECIES YOUR INTERESTED IN BEFORE PURCHASEING YOUR LIZARD. THIS WILL PREPARE YOU AS TO WHAT THE SPECIES
REQUIRES FOR CAGEING.
